Our volunteer did a PLACE visit at Great Ormond Street Hospital
On 9 February our volunteer Robert, did our first annual Patient Led Assessment of Care Environments (PLACE) visit at Great Ormond Street hospital.
We value our volunteers, they’re our lifeblood and they help us with all our activities. Many, like Robert assist us in visiting service providers to make sure that services are up to standard and the environment supports patients’ privacy and dignity.
As part of a patient and staff team Robert looked at the care environment to see if it met patient needs. He looked at the bone marrow ward, gastroenterology day case unit and outpatients department as well as sampling ward food.
This year, our volunteers will also visit University College London Hospital, Camden and Islington Foundation Trust and Central North Western London hospital. We want to make sure that local people’s voices are heard in the delivery of health and social care services.
