We attended the Bengali Volunteer’s Fair at the Surma Community Centre

On 23 April our volunteer co-ordinator Peter, attended the Bengali Volunteer’s Fair at the Surma Community Centre. Healthwatch Camden is always looking for volunteers from every part of the community to help us shape and improve local health and social care services.

The event was organised by Volunteer Centre Camden to encourage more BME groups/volunteers to take up volunteering. Many of our local health organisations were represented. At our stall Peter gave out information on Healthwatch Camden with the aim of encouraging volunteer sign up.

We hope to gain representation from members of the Bengali community, who haven’t been attracted to previous events of this kind.

Every voice counts to ensure that our health and social care services reflect our lively inner-city borough with its young and diverse population.

Volunteers are our lifeblood. They help us to find out what local people think and want in terms of health and social care in Camden.

We have an open and flexible approach, and encourage members of the BME community to come and volunteer with us.
