Message from Frances Hasler - Healthwatch Camden Director

As we mentioned in a recent blog, the NHS is working on Sustainability and Transformation Plans. These have ambitious aims of improving everyone’s health, improving the quality of services and stopping the cost of healthcare from going up. So local health leaders (and some local government leaders) have been getting together to make a plan.

New office

This is our first blog in a while. That’s because we have been settling in to our new office in Ossulston Street, at the Somers Town Community Association. We are enjoying the excellent cappuccinos served in the café here, and getting to know our new area, which includes the food stalls at Kings Cross and the market in Chalton Street, as well as the fancy shops in St Pancras International station.

From our director 'Getting knowledgeable about experience'

This time of year always has a distinct back to school feel about it. And now we are in our new location in South Camden we are surrounded by people who are studying or who are creating knowledge. Indeed, this part of town has been dubbed "the Knowledge Quarter".

Healthwatch Camden news

New work starting

This autumn sees the start of two new Healthwatch Camden projects. They are very different. One is looking at the experience of older people in residential care homes. The other is talking with young about their experience in their community. But in both cases, the main aim of the work is the same: to make sure that people who use health or social care services get a say in how those services are run.

Healthwatch attended Castlehaven 30Fest

On Saturday 16th July, Shelly Khan our Community Engagement Manager attended the Castlehaven 30Fest, organised by the Castlehaven Community Association. Local residents young and old attended the event. Healthwatch Camden wants to know what local people think about our health and social care services, that’s why we attend so many community events over the year.

We’re on the move!

From 12 September, Healthwatch Camden has a new address. We’ll be at 150 Ossulston Street London NW1 1EE.

This address is the home of Somers Town Community Association, who is providing us with our new base. We're already working with STCA in the Living Centre partnership, so we feel like we are joining friends.

We attended the 2016 Camden Mela

As part of our community engagement Healthwatch Camden has stalls at local events in Camden. We’re particularly keen to engage with hard to reach groups, such as our BME community. To do that, this July we attended the Camden Mela which is organised by Kings Cross and Brunswick Neighbourhood Association
