We were quoted on the front page of a local newspaper!

The Ham & High local newspaper ran a story on the Royal Free hospital. They asked our Director Frances Hasler to comment on the story which was about the Trust’s £66m backlog of crucial repairs.

We attended the Camden Health and Wellbeing Board meeting

On 16 October 2018, our board member Sarah Cawthra attended Camden’s Health and Wellbeing board meeting.

We have a seat on the Health and Wellbeing board, this means that we can influence how services work together.

We also have influence with the Care Quality Commission, the Clinical Commissioning Group and central government.

Our ambition is to achieve the best health and social care services that are shaped by local needs.

Every voice in Camden counts which is why we are always at meetings and events listening to what local people have to say.

Thanks to those who attended our AGM and community discussion

On Tuesday 23 October, 6pm to 8pm we held our AGM and community discussion. Healthwatch Camden staff and board members were joined by local people at the Living Centre.

We wanted to hear local people’s views on outpatient referrals and appointments as well as air pollution. These two issues are a priority for us in the coming year. We hosted round tables and asked people how each issue affected them or someone they know.

We came second in two awards at the national Healthwatch conference!

Each year Healthwatch England takes the opportunity to showcase outstanding examples of where local Healthwatch have gone above and beyond to ensure that local people receive the health and care that they need and deserve.

This year there were 170 entries from across England. We entered under two categories: Helping people have their say and Improving health and social care.

Guest blog post - Oliver Greene, Chair of Camden Disability Action (CDA)

The joint venture between Healthwatch and Camden Disability Action was indeed a worthwhile exercise.

In visiting the Community Centres and evaluating how accessible they were, for people with a wide variety of disabilities, was of immense help both to Healthwatch Camden, CDA and the London Borough of Camden.

My background is in construction, and therefore having been a site agent for many years, it meant I had a great knowledge in relation to buildings and the appropriate regulations that are in place regards to accessibility.
