In December 2016, Camden Council’s Cabinet Members approved the development of a new strategy for working with older and disabled people.
The title of the strategy is “Supporting people, connecting communities: living and aging better in Camden”.

This winter, Healthwatch Camden is going out into the community to find out what is important to local people in terms of Camden’s health and social care service provision.
We'll have stalls, for example in local libraries, supermarkets and college campuses. We want people to tell us the health and social care issues that they think should be prioritised especially over the winter months by service providers.

We’re looking for a Social Media Officer to come and work in our offices. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student who wants office skills and the chance to manage their own project.
The person will devise an engagement plan for our Facebook page, manage the page and increase engagement. It’s a six month volunteering role with the potential to extend.

On 3 August the Camden New Journal online published a story on our Highgate Day Centre – Audio Diary report. In particular highlighting that as a result of our work, health officials offered an apology to service users due to failings in the management of the closure of the service.

The government recently announced plans to cut some prescriptions that it believes patients could simply go out and buy. This includes medicines like eczema cream, eye drops for dry eye or conjunctivitis, scabies treatment and nappy rash cream.
Patient groups have criticised the plans, saying that it would break with the guiding principle that the NHS should be free at the point of use. Likewise, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society raised concerns about how the move might affect the poorest families.
