On Tuesday 4th August, Healthwatch Camden hosted an ‘Ask your local hospital’ Q&A event with Royal Free Hospital and University College Hospital. The event gained high interest from the public and over 200 people attended on Zoom or called in to listen.

Testing is a very important part of tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. In May 2020 we published an explainer on who can get a Covid-19 test. Since then the government has expanded their testing capabilities and more people are now eligible for coronavirus tests. There are two types of tests you might be eligible for. The first is to determine whether someone currently has the virus. This is called an antigen or PCR test. The second determines whether someone has had the virus in the past and is called an antibody test.

The UK government has identified and contacted around 1.5 million NHS patients advising them to start 'shielding' themselves. The letter strongly advises people to rigorously follow the guidance, which includes staying at home at all times for at least 12 weeks.
