Our Food poverty social media project has been covered in two newspapers. Food Poverty is a national issue and we are working with three organisaitons to raise awareness and let people and the organisations helping them have a say on how food poverty can be tackled. The social media campaign runs from 30 April ro 13 May and we will be issuing a report in June.

The Long Term Plan for the NHS was published on 7 January.
The key ingredients in the plan are:
-
A new model of care, with better funded, more joined up primary and community health
-
More emphasis on prevention and on tackling health inequalities
-
Further work to improve care quality and outcomes
-
Action on the workforce, including more funded training places and greater flexibility for staff
-
Further investment in a digitally enabled NHS
-
Further work to contain cost and make the service financially sustainable
-
Proposals on legislative reform to make new care models easier to implement.
The plan is evolutionary not revolutionary, many of the specific proposals in it have been trialled over the past few years, as part of the previous Five Year Forward View.

This spring Healthwatch Camden will be starting a new project about outpatient referrals.
Local people have told us there is sometimes confusion and delay between a GP referral and getting a specialist outpatient appointment at hospital.
We’re planning to survey patients who are waiting to see specialists at the Royal Free Hospital and at UCLH. We also want to hear from anyone who’s recently been referred by a GP so that we can learn more about these experiences. If you are interested in helping us with this work there are two ways you can get involved.
First, if you’ve had an outpatient referral recently please get in touch and tell us your story. Did your referral go smoothly? Were there any problems or delays?
Second, we will be recruiting a team of research volunteers to help us with our outpatient department surveys. Interested? Please see the role description attached.

The main focus for this workshop is how do we reach out and include non-clinical services and groups, how best can we support them in identifying people who might be at risk of falling and what to do when someone has been identified.
If you have experience of Falls please email us to confirm attendance. The event details are as follows:
